We are taking transportation in Eagle County to new heights—literally. As the region’s transportation authority, we play a crucial role in ensuring seamless connections for residents and visitors alike, whether they’re heading to a local destination or catching a flight out of Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE).
Our services don’t end once riders hop off a bus at the Eagle County Regional Airport. Each year, our board approves funding annually to help the EGE Air Alliance attract new airlines and/or routes through a process called Minimum Revenue Guarantees (MRGs). These MRGs are standard in the air service development business and are necessary because airlines have a lot of choices for new destinations and a lot of demand for air service from traditional year-round markets rather than our traditionally seasonal business in Eagle County. MRGs can help reduce the financial risk for airlines to try out a new route in Eagle with the expectation that after the initial year of operations, the MRGs would decrease and eventually subside.
“We are more than just a bus service; we’re the backbone of Eagle County's transportation network,” said Tanya Allen, Executive Director of Core Transit. “By supporting the region’s air travel options through our collaboration with Eagle County Regional Airport, we’re making sure that residents and visitors can easily reach their destinations, whether they’re traveling across town or across the country.”
Our involvement in MRGs is helping to attract and sustain new airline routes that connect Eagle County to the rest of the world. The impact of these guarantees is clear: more travel options, better connectivity, and greater economic benefits for the entire region. This commitment aligns with our mission to provide everyone in our community with user-friendly transportation solutions that are safe, rewarding, and reliable.
In addition to supporting air travel, we continue to operate a robust network of bus routes along the I-70 corridor and surrounding areas, including a $3 ride from the Airport to popular destinations, including Avon, Beaver Creek, and Vail, which you can purchase on our Mobile Fares App. We also provide fare-free or affordable options for travel elsewhere in the region, from Dotsero to Vail, including Minturn, Red Cliff, and Leadville. With a ten-year plan focused on expansion and innovation, we are gearing up to meet the evolving transportation needs of Eagle County while enhancing the overall travel experience.
“Whether you’re taking one of our buses to work, catching a flight, or traveling anywhere within Eagle County, Core Transit is proud to be part of your journey,” added Allen. “Our goal is to help you make your connection however you plan to do so.”
