Today, on Bus Operator Appreciation Day, I am proud to celebrate these dedicated professionals who go above and beyond to ensure our valley remains connected.

2023: A year of many firsts for EVTA

In December of 2023, the Eagle Valley Transportation Authority (EVTA) finished its first year as the Valley’s future regional transportation provider. It was a year of firsts—EVTA seated its first board, hired its first executive director, and brought on its first employees, while putting in place critical banking, human resources, communication and other procedures required for an accountable and transparent local government.

EVTA working with ECO Transit to continue service enhancements

Additional routes starting on December 30 

The Eagle Valley Transportation Authority (EVTA) and ECO Transit have more good news for our community. The agencies are working together to roll out more buses on both the Highway 6 and Valley winter routes beginning this Saturday, December 30th. These additional buses will increase our community's access to public transportation, a key strategic priority of the EVTA and ECO Transit.

EVTA names Scott Robinson as deputy director

Eagle resident brings knowledge of region, local government, business operations, relationships and more to EVTA

The Eagle Valley Transportation Authority hired Scott Robinson as the authority’s deputy director, filling a key management roll that will elevate EVTA’s efforts to expand transit in the region. Robinson comes to the EVTA from the Mountain Recreation district where he served most recently as the Superintendent of Business Operations.

Fare reductions, service improvements ahead for winter season

The Eagle Valley Transportation Authority (EVTA) and ECO Transit are pleased to work together to reduce fares, increase capacity and launch the first stage of EVTA-funded fare-free service this winter season. The service enhancements include a 25 percent reduction in standard ECO Transit fares, fare-free service on the Vail-Beaver Creek Express and more buses to service the Highway 6 route—ECO’s busiest service. These enhancements are supported by revenue from the new voter-approved EVTA sales tax and will go into effect on November 26 with the start of ECO Transit’s winter service.

It has been an active 2023 for the newly formed Eagle Valley Transportation Authority (EVTA) as we lay the groundwork for the improvement and expansion of regional transportation services in the Eagle River Valley over the coming months and years.
